Corn Cars: Good or Bad?
Flex-fuel vehicles are made to run on a mixture of gas and ethanol. Ethanol, also called e85, is an alcohol based fuel made by starch crops, such as corn. Using this mixture instead of simple gasoline is beneficial but also harmful to the world.
Flex-fuel vehicles are a benefit to humanity through scientific reasoning. One of these reasons being, there’s less pollution to nature. Another explanation is that instead of using fossil fuels to make gasoline, you’re using corn to make ethanol. Lastly, ethanol is less expensive to put in your gas tank.
Flex-fuel vehicles are harmful to the world because they use lots of corn which, when being grown, use lots of fertilizer that is bad for the environment. Ethanol contains less energy than gasoline causing your vehicle to get 25-30% less miles per gallon.
